Andrew Zadel is an award-winning writer living in Montreal, Canada.

He has been working in humanitarian aid and international development for over twenty years. In total, Zadel spent more than 100 months in field locations including Yemen, Iraq, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Darfur region of Sudan. He managed operational bases in several active conflict zones and is specialized in safety and security for humanitarian projects.

In 2019, Andrew was elected to the Board of Directors of Doctors Without Borders Canada. He currently works as a consultant for the World Bank, primarily in research on developing economies in Sub-Saharan Africa. He also works as a film and television actor and was previously the frontman of swing band Kamikaze Mustang.

Andrew Zadel holds master’s degrees in Economics for Development and Social Anthropology, both from the University of Oxford. He was named world champion for public speaking at the World Universities Debating Championship at the University of Glasgow in 2001.
